dutchnews.nlUganda's newly constituted Cabinet opened a ten-day induction retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi on 16 June 2026. Vice President Jessica Alupo and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja addressed ministers and permanent secretaries at the official opening.
President Alupo said the programme would equip ministers with knowledge and skills for their responsibilities. She thanked President Yoweri Museveni for appointing the Cabinet and pledged disciplined leadership and improved service delivery. Alupo identified agro-industrialisation, tourism, science, technology and innovation, value addition, export promotion and import substitution as key priorities.
Minister Nabbanja said the retreat aims to strengthen coordination between political leaders and the technical public service. She announced that government would replace paper-based oversight with real-time monitoring systems to track programmes and ensure value for money.
Nabbanja said Ugandans expect visible improvements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, electricity supply and employment opportunities. "There is no room for corruption, complacency or failure to implement Presidential directives," she said.
