Uganda Confirms New Ebola Case Linked to Congolese National

Uganda confirmed a new positive Ebola case on Monday, almost three weeks after the last recorded case on 5 June 2026. The new case brings the country's total to twenty and is linked to a Congolese national. Ministry of Health sources stated the case was confirmed on Monday.

Officials said the outbreak remains under control, with no local community transmission detected so far. Four people are currently in admission and nine contacts are under follow-up. Eight hundred seventeen people have completed their 21-day monitoring period and have been cleared.

600 community alerts have been received, assessed, and found negative for the virus. Uganda has recorded two deaths in the current outbreak, both involving the Bundibugyo strain. That country has reported 81 recoveries and 254 cumulative deaths, with more than 6,500 contacts listed.
