“The mirror that he is holding up to Europe and that we are finding it so uncomfortable to look in is showing us that without the United States, we cannot properly defend ourselves. At present, European strategic autonomy is a fairytale.”
She emphasized the need for the UK to reassert itself as a serious global power by demonstrating capabilities to allies and readiness to adversaries. Without such actions, the leader warned, the UK would lack influence in future international developments. This would involve reversing post-Cold War reductions in UK military size.
