Tice said John Healey's resignation letter stated the Prime Minister was "unable" to fund what is necessary to keep the UK safe. Tice said the Defence Investment Plan is "nowhere near the three per cent" promised. He stated Al Carns had no involvement in preparing the plan despite being one of the most experienced veterans in Parliament.
Tice urged Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves to resign. " Tice declared the letters an "absolute indictment" of Sir Keir Starmer's leadership. " Tice suggested the Labour Party consider Al Carns as a possible replacement for Sir Keir.
He said between scrapping net zero and stopping welfare payments to overseas nationals, £45 billion a year could be saved to fund defence. Tice stated Reform UK would properly fund the armed forces and repeal any new legacy act to protect veterans after service.
