UK average diesel prices fell 16.6 pence per litre in June 2026 to 167.14p, the largest monthly decline since 2000, GB News reported. The drop exceeded the previous record of roughly 12 pence set in May 2023. Petrol prices declined 7.97 pence per litre to 151.4p over the same period.
Drivers of a standard 55-litre family car saved £9 per tank on diesel and £4.40 on petrol. The Big Four supermarkets reduced diesel prices by 19 pence per litre and unleaded by 7.15 pence per litre during the month. Oil prices stood in the low-$70s range, or £52.53, which is $10 above the average for the first two months of 2026, Simon Williams, head of policy at the RAC, stated.
At the start of the Middle East conflict, average unleaded stood at 132p and diesel at 142p. The lowest petrol price recorded in England was 139.7p per litre at GW Holmes of Etherley Moor Garage in Bishop Auckland. The lowest diesel price was 152.9p at Linthouse Lane Service Station and two Sainsbury's sites in Wolverhampton.
Average prices in Northern Ireland were 147.5p for petrol and 162.6p for diesel.
