UK to Receive £1.3 Billion in Clean Energy and AI Investments

British officials announced a package of investments from French and Indian firms after G7 meetings in south-west France. The package totals more than £1.3 billion and covers clean energy infrastructure and AI sector expansion. The investments include £1 billion from InfraVia for battery storage and flexible energy projects across the UK.

Another £300 million will come from Atri Energy Transition for large-scale battery storage and advanced manufacturing.

Technologies, based in India, will invest £25 million to expand operations in Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham. The expansion is expected to create around 1,200 jobs in AI, digital services, and quantum technologies. A company executive said the firm has worked with UK businesses for more than three decades and will focus on developing young talent and collaborating with government at multiple levels.

InfraVia said the funds will support a pipeline of battery storage and flexible energy projects. The company described the investment as a response to rising demand from digital infrastructure and electric vehicles. Atri Energy Transition will develop large-scale battery storage and advanced manufacturing facilities expected to create more than 100 jobs.

Officials stated the combined investments will support high-skilled jobs and help protect households from volatile global energy prices. British officials said the announcements build on the government's industrial strategy and aim to position the UK as a destination for investment in AI and clean energy.
