Britain's visible trade balance posted a deficit of 18.66 billion pounds in May, narrower than the 26.05 billion pound shortfall recorded the previous month. The figure also fell short of the 23.10 billion pound surplus forecast by analysts. The overall UK trade balance showed a deficit of 1.44 billion pounds for the month.
That compared with an 8.44 billion pound deficit in the prior period and a projected shortfall of 5.50 billion pounds.
