Ukraine's defense manufacturers said they expect slower decision-making on contracts after a senior ministry official was removed during a government reshuffle last week. The official had overseen reforms that emphasized drone deployment and introduced a more transparent procurement process for domestic firms.
Since January, Ukrainian forces have increased long-range drone strikes on Russian oil facilities and used mid-range drones against rear-area logistics.
The official's focus on rapid technological change sometimes differed from the military's conventional command structure. A defense industry representative said the leadership change creates an unpredictable period while new processes are established.
The representative added that changing a minister and team usually requires time to adjust operations, which can slow adoption of necessary decisions.
