Ukraine Fires Over 400 Drones at Moscow, Killing Five in Belgorod

Ukraine fired more than 400 drones toward Moscow from late Sunday until early Monday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. Russian air defenses intercepted 85 of them near the capital, while Moscow regional Gov. Andrei Vorobyov reported 10 people wounded and damage to several residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

A fire broke out at the Yuzhnye Vrata industrial park 30 kilometers south of Moscow, and the Astra news outlet reported another at an oil depot in Podolsk 20 kilometers south. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his forces struck logistics facilities and an oil depot in the Moscow region, plus two vessels from Russia’s shadow fleet carrying sanctioned oil and four dry cargo ships in the Black Sea.

In Russia’s Belgorod region, a drone struck a passenger bus in Shebekino, killing five people including four women and a boy and injuring 23 others, acting Gov.

Alexander Shuvayev said. Russian forces fired two missiles and 94 long-range drones at Ukraine overnight, Ukraine’s air force said. Air defenses jammed or intercepted 81 drones, but nine drones and one missile struck nine locations, including fuel tanks in the port of Odesa.

A strike on Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk region injured 13 people, 11 of them hospitalized including a 13-year-old girl. At least three people were killed and 45 injured in Russian airstrikes in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian officials said. Fires also broke out in residential buildings in Kramatorsk and Pavlohrad after Russian attacks on Monday.

A Russian strike on Sunday hit a cargo vessel flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau shortly after it left Odesa, killing 10 crew members including five from Syria and rescuing eight, Ukraine’s Sea Ports Authority said. The ship carried Ukrainian corn. Zelenskyy dismissed Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov after six months and said he would hold key talks Monday to address the resulting domestic crisis.
