Ukrainian Drones Disrupt Russian Supply Lines and Advance
Ukrainian forces have expanded drone operations across multiple ranges, slowing Russian territorial gains. Russian spending on the conflict is running ahead of budget projections.
Ukrainian drone programs now operate at short, medium, and long ranges, according to reporting cited by Hot Air. Short-range units spot and strike Russian positions along the front line while ground robots deliver supplies and remove wounded personnel.
Medium-range drones target logistics hubs and air-defense sites up to 200 miles behind Russian lines. Long-range Ukrainian drones have struck deeper into Russian territory than in prior months. Hot Air reported that these strikes have prompted additional defensive measures by Russian forces.
The same account noted that Russian monthly territorial gains have fallen from an average of 150 square miles last year to a fraction of that pace.
Air stated that Russia’s defense and security allocation of Rbs16.84tn already exceeds planned spending. The first four months of the year produced a recorded deficit of Rbs5.9tn. Officials have requested additional funds to cover an expected year-end shortfall of at least Rbs2tn.
A Russian drone struck an apartment building in the Romanian city of Galati during an overnight attack on Ukraine. The Romanian Defense Ministry said the building sustained roof damage and that the incident occurred roughly 10 miles from the Ukrainian border.
Romanian officials have requested additional anti-drone equipment from NATO and European Union partners. Russian officials stated that the origin of the drone cannot be confirmed until an investigation is completed. The same statement noted prior Ukrainian drone flights into Finland, Poland, and the Baltic region.
