Ukrainian Drones Strike Russia, Killing Four and Wounding 12
Russian authorities reported at least four deaths and multiple injuries from a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack overnight. Russian air defenses claimed to have intercepted hundreds of drones targeting Moscow and other regions.
Russian local authorities said at least four people died in one of the largest Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia since the start of the war. Three deaths occurred near Moscow and one in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine. A woman was killed when a drone struck her home in Khimki, a city northwest of Moscow.
Two men died in the village of Pogorelki about 10 kilometers north of the capital, according to Moscow region Gov. Andrei Vorobyev.
Moscow itself, at least 12 people were wounded near the entrance to the city’s oil refinery, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported. Sobyanin said the refinery’s technology was not damaged. Russian defenses shot down 81 drones headed for Moscow overnight, state agency Tass reported, citing Sobyanin.
The country’s defense ministry said 556 drones were destroyed over Russia overnight. Shortly after midday local time, the ministry reported that more than 1,000 drones had been shot down or jammed in the previous 24 hours.
Russia attacked Ukraine with 287 drones overnight on Sunday, the Ukrainian air force reported. Ukraine said 279 of those drones were shot down or jammed. Ukraine’s state emergency service reported eight injuries in the central Dnipropetrovsk region.
Residential buildings were damaged in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Synelkove. " — Andrei Vorobyev, Moscow region governor (AP) Russia’s largest airport, Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, said drone debris had fallen on its premises without causing damage.
