Ukrainian drones struck Russia's Black Sea port of Tuapse on Friday, marking the fourth attack in 16 days. The strikes targeted the seaport and refinery, a key hub for Russian oil exports. Local Russian officials reported a major operation to extinguish a fire at the port, with no casualties mentioned.

The refinery has been hit and set ablaze at least twice since April 16, halting production. These attacks have produced dense black smoke clouds over the town and caused oil slicks along the coastline, affecting beaches in the popular resort area. Russian authorities have cleared more than 13,300 cubic meters of fuel oil and contaminated soil along the coast.

Russia launched nearly 410 drones at Ukraine in a daytime attack on Friday, injuring 10 people in the western city of Ternopil. Ukrainian air force units downed or neutralized 388 of them across the north, south, center, and west of the country. The attack in Ternopil, about 150-200 km from the Polish border, hit industrial and infrastructure facilities.

In central Ukraine, 19 drones were downed over the Cherkasy region, damaging a nursery, a school, seven private houses, and a power line. A woman was injured in the Vinnytsia region, where a building was destroyed. Near the southern city of Odesa, a daytime attack damaged the roof of a shopping center and caused a fire, with at least five people wounded in the region.

Drone strikes were also reported in Mykolaiv, Kryvyi Rih, and Odesa oblasts, according to regional authorities and local reports.

Ukraine has announced plans to reform its army this summer to address infantry shortages and the discharge of long-serving soldiers, four years into the war with Russia. Manpower shortages have intensified as enthusiasm for service has waned amid reports of poor training and support, as well as issues with draft officers.

The reforms are set to begin in June, with key details to be finalized in May. The changes include higher pay for infantry and aim to ensure the state respects frontline soldiers. Ukraine must be prepared to continue fighting if a peace deal is not reached.

The reforms are described as a systemic transformation of the army.

Public prosecutors in Peru are investigating an alleged trafficking network that offers fake jobs in Russia to Peruvians before forcing them to fight in the war against Ukraine. Individuals, including former military personnel and police officers, were reportedly recruited through social media with deceptive offers of well-paid work as security agents and other jobs.

Once in Russia, victims were forced to participate in combat operations in the armed conflict. Thirteen Peruvians have died in the Ukraine war, according to a lawyer for the victims' families. The public prosecutor's office confirmed that many citizens are victims of deception, lured by job promises.

TV in Russia showed a reporter on a blackened beach demonstrating the depth of oozing filth from the oil leaks. The attacks on Tuapse have ruined beaches and contributed to a growing environmental disaster with toxic smoke and oil in the sea. Authorities are struggling to cope with the cleanup.

Drones remain a primary element in the Ukraine war, with discussions on their role in warfare, including potential underwater variants. The conflict continues to draw international attention, including investigations into forced recruitment from other countries.
