Ulster Centre Stuart McCloskey Signs One-Year Contract Extension

uk reported. The 33-year-old signed the deal after a dominant 2025-26 campaign in which his midfield play helped Ireland secure the Triple Crown during the Six Nations. McCloskey started 13 matches for Ulster and contributed to the team's run to the European Challenge Cup final.
He suffered a hamstring injury during the second half of the semi-final win over Exeter Chiefs, which ruled him out of the final loss to Montpellier and ended his season. With 217 senior appearances for Ulster, McCloskey sits one short of Rory Best's record of 218.
Ulster general manager Rory Best described the extension as vital business, noting McCloskey's ability to break the gain line and his value as a mentor to younger centres.
McCloskey called Ulster his home and said the team showed it can compete with strong sides after reaching the European final. He added that international experience had lifted the squad and that he remains motivated for the coming seasons. Back in fitness, McCloskey will prepare for Ireland's Tests against Australia, Japan and New Zealand in July as part of the inaugural Nations Championship.
