US Finishes Ninth Night of Iran Strikes While Iran Reports Hits on US Aircraft in Jordan

The United States completed its ninth consecutive night of strikes on Iran early Monday. Central Command said the attacks ended at 02:00 GMT and hit military command centers, air defense sites, coastal surveillance installations, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch areas, and communications networks.

The strikes came after a US service member was killed Saturday in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone.

At least two other US soldiers died last week in Jordan when Iranian missiles struck a base there. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it launched ballistic missiles at US C-17 and P-8 aircraft at Aqaba airport in Jordan and destroyed 20 hangars at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Azraq.

The IRGC also reported that two oil tankers exploded and were halted in the southern Strait of Hormuz late Sunday.

An MQ-9 drone was shot down over Eslamabad-e Gharb in Kermanshah province, according to Iranian state media. US strikes were also reported in the town of Khormoj in southwestern Iran. A vessel caught fire about eight nautical miles northwest of Kumzar, Oman, late Sunday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency said.

President Donald Trump stated that the strikes honored American service members who had been killed. “We hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honour of the, probably three, it’s probably three great patriots,” he told reporters. ” He added that the right time to negotiate comes after a reliable military achievement and that decisions must rest on accurate calculations.

The US embassy in Bahrain warned Americans that Iran might target locations in central Manama and urged them to seek shelter if sirens or explosions occur. The IRGC warned that the Strait of Hormuz remains unsafe for oil and gas shipments while US operations continue.
