US and Iran advance technical talks toward final nuclear deal

US and Iranian technical teams continued negotiations in Burgenstock, Switzerland, after wrapping main talks late Sunday. Officials from both sides said they had consolidated the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and established a timeline for a comprehensive agreement within 60 days.

Progress on inspections and asset controls US Vice President JD Vance told reporters that IAEA nuclear inspectors are expected to return to Iran this week to verify compliance with the preliminary agreement. m. and expects conversations to begin as soon as today.

Vance also outlined a proposed mechanism for any future release of frozen Iranian assets. The plan would require approvals from the United States and Qatar before funds could be used to purchase American corn, wheat, and soy for Iranian civilians.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the progress and said a team from the country’s Foreign Ministry will remain in Switzerland for the rest of the week to support technical discussions.

Gaza casualties reported Three Palestinians were killed and 11 others wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The ministry said the total number of fatalities since a ceasefire took effect in October 2025 stands at 1,024, with 3,260 wounded.
