The share of US small business owners who named inflation their single most important problem reached 21 percent in June, @KobeissiLetter reported. The reading marked the highest level since October 2024 and stood 10 percentage points above the figure from one year earlier. The June reading remained below the roughly 36 percent peak recorded in 2022.
It matched the level observed during the 2008 financial crisis. Separately, 38 percent of small firms raised their average selling prices in June, an increase of 2 percentage points from May. The June figure was the highest since January 2023 and extended a streak of four consecutive monthly gains.
The long-term average for the series stands at roughly 14 percent.
