Utz Recalls Select Dirty and Zapp’s Potato Chips Over Potential Salmonella Contamination

U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced on Monday. The recall stems from a notification to Utz that a seasoning sourced from California Dairies, Inc.

And supplied by a third-party contains dry milk powder that may contain salmonella. The impacted seasoning batches tested negative for salmonella before use, according to the FDA alert. Utz is proceeding with the recall out of an abundance of caution.

The FDA alert lists the impacted products by item name, size, description, UPC numbers, best by dates, and batch code numbers. There have been no reported illnesses related to the recall. No additional products produced by Utz Quality Foods are impacted.

People are advised to discard any impacted products and not eat them, the FDA alert stated. m. m.

ET. Retailers should check their inventories and shelves to confirm that none of the impacted products are present or available for purchase by consumers. The voluntary recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the United States Food and Drug Administration.

Newsweek reported reaching out to Utz Quality Foods LLC via phone for comment and leaving a voicemail. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA. Infections with salmonella often cause fever, diarrhea which may be bloody, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

In rare circumstances, salmonella infection could produce arterial infections, infected aneurysms, endocarditis, and arthritis. U.S. are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts, and peanuts, the FDA stated.
