Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Hits Fastest List A Fifty Off 11 Balls for India A

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored a half-century off 11 balls for India A against Sri Lanka A on 21 June 2026, setting the record for the fastest 50-over List A fifty in cricket history. The 15-year-old reached the landmark with five fours and five sixes in the 10 balls after the first ball of his fifty.

He faced only one dot ball during the innings and finished with 94 runs off 29 deliveries, striking 10 fours and eight sixes.

India A posted 377 for 9 in the match. The previous record for the fastest List A 50-over half-century was 13 balls, set by Thisara Perera for the Sri Lankan Army in 2021. The quickest international List A fifty in 50-over cricket stood at 16 balls, achieved by AB de Villiers of South Africa and Matthew Forde of the West Indies.

Sooryavanshi was the leading run-scorer in the 2026 Indian Premier League. On the same day as his record innings, he was not selected for India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against England. He was named in India's T20 squad for matches against Ireland and England.
