Valve Shows Steam Controller Buyers Delivery Dates Through 2027 While Continuing Production

Valve is now displaying one of three shipping estimates to customers who reserve a Steam Controller: by September 2026, by December 2026, or sometime in 2027. The Verge reported that any reservations made on June 18, 2026 indicate a 2027 date for shipping. Valve stated it has no plans to stop making the Steam Controller.

The company cited current demand compared to the number of units it knows it can make by the end of 2026 as the reason for managing customer expectations on delivery timing. Valve’s Steam Controller went on sale in early May 2026. Initial demand for the Steam Controller exceeded Valve’s expectations, the company said.

Valve implemented a reservations queue for Steam Controller buyers after the initial launch. Customers on the Steam Controller waitlist have 72 hours to place an order once notified that units are available. 8 on June 17, 2026 with support for the Steam Machine.

Valve announced it is ready to launch the Steam Machine in summer 2026. Valve imported 13 tons of VR headsets into the US on June 13, 2026.
