Van Gerwen Edges Humphries 8-7 in Deciding Leg to Win Nordic Darts Masters

Michael van Gerwen defeated Luke Humphries 8-7 in the deciding leg to win the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen, Denmark. Van Gerwen, the top seed and currently ranked fourth in the world, trailed 3-1 before winning four consecutive legs. Humphries, the world number two, missed a bullseye in the final leg, allowing Van Gerwen to finish 72 on double top.

Van Gerwen advanced by defeating Viktor Tingstrom 6-5 in the quarter-finals and Jonny Clayton 7-4 in the semi-finals. Humphries reached the final after beating Luke Littler 7-5 in the other semi-final, posting a match average of 105 that included a 132 finish with two bullseyes and a double 16.

The victory gave Van Gerwen his 18th PDC World Series title and his second of 2026 after he also won the Bahrain title in January.

He became the first player to win the Nordic Darts Masters twice since the event began in 2021. "I think Luke let me get away with it because he had a chance to be 4-1 up," Van Gerwen said. " "It is always nice to have a win behind your name again," he added.

"That gives confidence and a good feeling because my performances early on in the rounds were not good. But more it was how I bounced back to keep grafting. " The World Series continues with the US Darts Masters at New York's Madison Square Garden from 25-27 June.
