Speaking on CNBC, Vance stated that the United States expects the waterway to remain open without tolls on a long-term basis. He noted that technical negotiations will address remaining details.
Agreement details "Our expectation is that the Strait is going to be opened in a toll-free way for the long-term," Vance stated. He added that negotiators will sit at the table to discuss important details and determine a path forward. The potential deal follows joint U.S.-Israeli strikes that began in February. The conflict has claimed thousands of lives and disrupted energy markets.
Remaining conditions Full implementation may require an end to hostilities in Lebanon and could defer talks on Iran's nuclear program. Iran's foreign minister and House speaker are scheduled to attend the signing ceremony in Switzerland this Friday. The U.S. representative has not been named.
