Victor Marx projected to win Colorado Republican primary for governor
Decision Desk HQ called the race for Marx on Thursday night after he defeated state Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer and state Rep. Scott Bottoms in the June 30 primary. Marx will face Democratic Attorney General Phil Weiser in November.

Victor Marx is projected to win the Republican primary for Colorado governor, according to Decision Desk HQ. The projection came Thursday night after the June 30 primary, where Marx defeated state Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer and state Rep.
Scott Bottoms. Marx posted a three-minute video on social media Thursday in which he said he was “humbled” to be the GOP gubernatorial pick. “I want to speak to those who want a better future for Colorado,” he said, adding that voters could disagree on issues but should agree the state is not the way its founding fathers envisioned it 150 years ago.
He urged voters to focus on crime, spending, and addiction treatment. State Rep. Scott Bottoms called Marx a “con man” and said Marx had lied personally to him. State Sen. ” Marx responded that he had “an extraordinary life” and that thousands of people could verify his accounts.
He said he would continue praying for people if elected. Marx will face Democrat Phil Weiser, Colorado’s attorney general, in the November general election. Colorado has not elected a Republican governor in more than two decades.
