Prosecutors on Tuesday played video evidence showing Tyler Robinson perched on a Utah Valley University rooftop, fatally shooting Charlie Kirk, and then fleeing the scene. The compilation was introduced during the second day of a preliminary hearing in Provo, Utah. Robinson, 23, is charged with aggravated murder and could face the death penalty.
David Hull, a lead investigator, testified that Robinson made three trips to the campus on Sept. 10. Cameras captured his Dodge Charger entering a parking garage around 8:30 a.m. that day. Robinson ate at the campus Chick-fil-A before climbing to the rooftop.
Hull said Robinson returned to the campus a fourth time after midnight on Sept. 11. The preliminary hearing is expected to last several days. Judge Tony Graf will determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.
Prosecutors plan to present dozens of exhibits linking Robinson to the murder, including a recorded statement from Lance Twiggs, Robinson's romantic partner, in which prosecutors say Robinson confessed to the shooting. Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA, which helped President Trump win young voters in 2024.
