Volkanovski Says Topuria Would Knock Out Gaethje

Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski said Ilia Topuria possesses the speed and power to knock out Justin Gaethje in their upcoming lightweight title fight. Volkanovski made the comments in a video posted on social media on May 29, 2026. He noted that Topuria's combination of accuracy and punching power could end the fight quickly if Gaethje presses forward aggressively.

"Ilia's got a great eye, he's very sharp, and he's got power. Ilia can put Gaethje's lights out," Volkanovski said. He added that the outcome would depend on Gaethje's approach, specifically warning against an overly aggressive start. Topuria, 29, holds the lightweight title and is making his first defense against Gaethje.

The Spanish fighter previously knocked out Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.

In a separate interview posted May 27, 2026, Topuria said he predicted he would knock out Holloway before the fifth round. He described deliberately forcing early exchanges to capitalize on Holloway's timing. The lightweight title fight is scheduled for the White House card.
