Wales forward Abbie Fleming to join Leicester Tigers Women after omission from national squad

Wales forward Abbie Fleming will join Leicester Tigers Women for the 2026-27 season, the BBC reported. The 30-year-old lock or flanker is one of three Wales internationals leaving Harlequins, along with Carys Phillips and Lisa Neumann. Fleming joined Harlequins in summer 2023 and made 39 appearances for the club.
She has also played for Cardiff and Exeter. The BBC reported that Fleming was not included in Wales' 2026 Six Nations squad. Leicester Tigers Women finished bottom of the Premiership Women's Rugby league last season after losing all 16 league games.
The team collected three bonus points and ended 31 points behind second-bottom Bristol Bears. "I'm really looking forward to joining Tigers this season," said Fleming. "I believe in the game plan, and I can't wait to see what we can achieve together as a club.
Tigers director of women's rugby Fraser Goatcher said Fleming is incredibly physical and brings a great skillset that will strengthen both defense and attack.
