Walmart operates around 175 stores and clubs in Illinois.
Constellation produces enough energy in the state to power more than 8 million homes, according to the retailer. The company has set a target of zero emissions across its global operations by 2040. Similar corporate nuclear deals have increased since 2024.
Microsoft signed a 20-year agreement in September 2024 with Constellation to restart Three Mile Island Unit 1 in Pennsylvania, delivering about 835 megawatts. Amazon signed an agreement in June 2025 with Talen Energy for up to 1.92 gigawatts from the Susquehanna plant through 2042.
Meta announced agreements in January 2026 with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo that could deliver up to 6.6 gigawatts by 2035.
