Warriors Draft Michigan Forward Yaxel Lendeborg at No. 11

The Golden State Warriors selected Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA draft on Tuesday. ESPN reported the selection of the Michigan forward. Lendeborg said in 2016 he was a Cleveland Cavaliers fan and a big Kyrie Irving supporter who used to dislike Curry.

His family had moved from Puerto Rico to Ohio when he was 2 years old, and the Cavaliers faced the Warriors in the NBA Finals that season. Curry replied to Lendeborg's Instagram post celebrating the draft pick. "Let's go!

I'm going to work hard to be your new favorite player," Curry wrote, followed by a cry-laughing emoji. Lendeborg said his view of Curry changed after meeting him at the Warriors' April play-in game against the LA Clippers. He added that he looks forward to playing with Curry and learning from him.

"Now that I'm actually going to be able to be on the same team with him, play and actually learn so much from him, it means a lot," Lendeborg said. "He's a very great guy, genuine person. " Lendeborg also noted he was "really not too fond of" Draymond Green's Michigan State ties but said he was excited to learn from him as well.
