Washington, D.C. is scheduled to host a fireworks display using 850,000 individual fireworks on July 4, 2026, CBS News reported. The show is planned to last 40 minutes and will be produced by Pyrotecnico. Pyrotecnico has prepared the display since January 2026.
President of the company Rocco Vitale said eight barges positioned on the Potomac River will serve as firing locations, each equipped with a GPS-synchronized communication device that triggers the fireworks at the scheduled time. President Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks at 9:45 p.m. Eastern Time, according to Freedom 250, the event organizer.
The fireworks display is set to begin at 10:45 p.m. Eastern Time. The event is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people to the National Mall. CBS will air a primetime special titled "The Great American Block Party 250" at 8 p.m.
