Washington, D.C. Schedules Multiple Events for U.S. 250th Anniversary

Washington, D.C. will host a series of public events from June through August 2026 to mark the country's semiquincentennial. The schedule includes a UFC event, July 4 concerts and parades, a state fair, an IndyCar race, and World Cup watch parties.

Washington, D.C. officials have scheduled multiple public events through the summer of 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. The events span from mid-June to late August and include ticketed and free activities on federal property.

The main event is a lightweight championship bout between Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria. A Zac Brown Band concert is set for the preceding evening at the Ellipse. Public tickets for both events are no longer available. Viewers can watch at designated bars in the District or stream the card on Paramount+.

A 16-day fair runs June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall between 4th and 14th Streets. It features a 110-foot Ferris wheel, rodeo, competitions, and exhibits from all 50 states. A concert originally planned for the fair was canceled after several performers withdrew.

Organizers expect more than one million people on the National Mall that day. An IndyCar race is planned for August 22-23 on a 1.7-mile course around the National Mall. Organizers have received 288,000 ticket requests for 100,000 available spots distributed by lottery.

The event is projected to generate up to $200 million in revenue and draw around one million visitors. Washington is also planning watch parties during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which runs June 11 to July 19.
