Washington fountain water turns brown after reopening

The cascading fountain at Meridian Hill Park, also known as Malcolm X Park, began running brown after it reopened in May. Photos from the scene show the change in water color. An Interior Department spokesperson attributed the brown tint to sediment released when two water lines that had been out of service were reopened.

Earlier statements on pool conditions Officials said at least seven people were arrested and seven others received federal citations in connection with alleged vandalism at a nearby reflecting pool.
