Waze announced four updates to its driving app on July 13, 2026. Two of the updates integrate Google’s Gemini AI assistant to support conversational voice commands. The app is expanding its conversation reporting feature, introduced in 2024, so drivers can report traffic incidents and suggest map changes such as road closures or outdated house numbers through voice.
Users can also set voice prompts to a less chatty mode. A Motorcycle Mode adds two-wheeled routing shortcuts and more accurate ETAs. Route suggestions now draw on a driver’s past trips and local traffic data, prioritizing options such as highways when preferred.
The Verge reported that Google has so far limited full AI integration in Waze while adding more AI capabilities to Google Maps.
