West Indies women defeated Ireland by nine wickets in the first one-day international of their series at Bready, bbc.co.uk reported. Ireland scored 269 all out in 49 overs after losing the toss. Amy Hunter made 96 off 90 balls and Gaby Lewis scored 39 off 48 balls in her 200th ODI appearance.
Afy Fletcher took 4 for 49 and Hayley Matthews claimed 3 for 52 for the visitors. West Indies reached 270 for 1 in 38.4 overs. Matthews scored 159 off 123 balls, the second-highest score by a West Indies women's player in ODI history behind Stafanie Taylor's 177.
Realeanna Grimmond made 91 off 107 balls before being caught by Hunter off Louise Little, who finished with 1 for 25. The second ODI is scheduled for Sunday at Bready and the third match for Wednesday.
