The White House Correspondents’ Association will hold its annual dinner on July 24, 2026, replacing the April 25 event that ended early after a gunman disrupted proceedings attended by President Trump. White House Correspondents Association President Weijia Jiang contacted members on Monday to inform them of the new date.

“The rescheduled White House Correspondents Dinner will take place on July 24, 2026,” Jiang stated in June 2026.

The association described the July date as a do-over of the spring gathering. Prosecutors have accused Cole Allen of attempting to assassinate the president during the April 25 dinner. A gunman stormed a security checkpoint during the April 2026 dinner, prompting the early end of proceedings.

President Trump was swiftly evacuated from the April 25, 2026 gala after the incident. President Trump posted on his Truth Social account that the dinner will take place at the same venue. President Trump said on Tuesday that he will attend and speak at the rescheduled dinner on July 24, 2026.

Organisers said the gathering will proceed with enhanced security.
