Chicago White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami left Friday's 4-3 extra-inning win against the Detroit Tigers in the third inning because of right hamstring tightness. After the game, White Sox manager Will Venable described the injury as a "little hamstring strain on the initial evaluation" and said Murakami might miss time.

"He'll get some imaging tomorrow, but probably a couple weeks," Venable said. The injury occurred when Murakami was running out a ground ball hit to Detroit second baseman Zach McKinstry. Murakami beat the relay throw to first base but grabbed his right hamstring as medical staff and manager Will Venable reached him.

Injury details and next steps Murakami declined to comment after the game.

A team spokesman said he would be available after a final determination before Saturday's game against the Tigers. Venable said no decision had been made on the injured list. "Nothing official. Got to continue the evaluation, but it might be a couple weeks," he said.

Team response and roster move The White Sox replaced Murakami with pinch-runner Luisangel Acuna, who scored on a double by Miguel Vargas. Chicago won the game on a two-run homer by Vargas in the 10th inning. With Murakami injured, the White Sox are calling up infielder Jacob Gonzalez, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
