Chicago White Sox rookie first baseman Munetaka Murakami has resumed running as part of his recovery from a right hamstring strain sustained May 29. The injury occurred during a 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. Murakami is projected to miss four to six weeks.
"It's coming along well," Murakami said Friday through interpreter Kenzo Yagi. "Progress is being made day by day. I'm doing well in the rehab itself. "
Manager Will Venable said Teel could be sent on a minor-league rehab assignment within days. Left-hander Noah Schultz, placed on the 15-day injured list May 26 with right-knee patellar tendinitis, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday. Venable said a successful session would lead to a minor-league assignment in Charlotte.
