San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted on Instagram that the team voided his contract guarantees in July after he missed rehabilitation sessions. Aiyuk wrote that the team continued to state publicly he would return even after he told officials multiple times he would not play under the revised terms.
He said the team had GPS and footage showing he met recovery markers before the surgeon’s required timeline.
Contract status Aiyuk stated he will not file for reinstatement and will not conduct future business with the 49ers. He said he remains focused on returning to play this season. If the team keeps him on the left squad list, he would stay on the roster without counting against the active limit or receiving pay. The 28-year-old has previously expressed interest in joining another club.
