Wigan Warriors defeated Huddersfield Giants 24-10 in a Betfred Super League match on 17 July 2026. Zach Eckersley scored a hat-trick for Wigan while Huddersfield replied with two tries. The BBC reported that Taane Milne scored the opening try for Huddersfield.
Oliver Partington crossed for Wigan and Eckersley added his first before half-time to give the visitors a 10-4 lead. Jacob Gagai levelled the score for Huddersfield in the second half. Wigan regained the lead through a penalty kicked by Adam Keighran after Joe Greenwood was sin-binned for dissent.
Eckersley then scored two late tries to complete his hat-trick and seal the win. Keighran kicked four goals in total. Huddersfield had entered the match on an 11-match losing streak and had lost three players for the season through injury in the preceding week.
Their chairman Ken Davy also stepped down during that period. Wigan arrived on the back of seven successive wins across all competitions. The BBC reported that Huddersfield had beaten Wigan at the Brick Community Stadium in March.
A Huddersfield try was disallowed for a forward pass and three players were sin-binned during the match. Wigan head coach Matt Peet said after the match: "I'm proud of the players for showing the resolve to get the two points. Huddersfield pushed us all the way.
Eckersley has now scored 19 tries in the 2026 Super League season.
