WNBA Players Receive Major Salary Increases Under New Labor Agreement

The new contract spans seven years and extends through 2032. It establishes a revenue sharing system for the first time. The estimated average salary under the agreement stands at $583,000. Minimum pay for all players reaches $270,000 this season. That figure marks an increase from the previous $66,000 minimum. Top earners may receive up to $1.4 million.

Alysha Clark, a veteran forward for the Dallas Wings and vice-president of the players association, called the changes amazing. She highlighted benefits for the majority of players who form the league's core. Clark noted that the deal allows players to invest in their futures and support their families. She emphasized the importance of paving the way for future generations.

She no longer needs to consider an immediate second career outside basketball. The previous agreement ended in October 2025. Negotiations lasted 17 months before the new deal was ratified in March. A financial report showed the league achieved profitability sufficient to distribute $8 million in revenue sharing to teams.
