Roswell police arrested a 47-year-old woman on charges related to a false bomb threat made to American Airlines. The woman, identified as Brooke Ayers, called the airline last Wednesday to report that her ex-boyfriend planned to bring explosives on a flight departing from Roswell Air Center airport in New Mexico. The report prompted a security response at the airport.

Law enforcement intercepted the ex-boyfriend as he prepared to board the flight. Authorities diverted traffic from the airport and detained him while a bomb squad searched his rental car for explosives. The search found no explosives, and the ex-boyfriend was released after police confirmed the threat was false.

The false report stemmed from an argument between the woman and her ex-boyfriend the previous night, which resulted in the end of their relationship. The ex-boyfriend had been visiting from out of state. Police issued a statement detailing the sequence of events leading to the investigation.

at the Woman's Home Officers went to the woman's home to question her about the report.

She became aggressive during the encounter and threatened to retrieve a knife to use against an officer. Police placed her in handcuffs for transport to the station. While being handcuffed, the woman resisted and dug her nails into an officer's arm.

She was then arrested. Her mugshot showed her smiling, according to police records.

The woman faces charges of making a bomb scare, aggravated assault on a peace officer, battery upon a peace officer, and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

The incident disrupted airport operations, including traffic diversion and a vehicle search. No flights were reported delayed beyond the initial response. This case highlights the consequences of false threats to transportation security.

American Airlines, as the targeted carrier, cooperated with authorities.
