Brittany Clark, 31, was killed by an alligator in the Econlockhatchee River. Her boyfriend attempted to free her during the attack before CPR was started on shore.
abcnews.go.comA 31-year-old woman died after an alligator grabbed her arm and began a death roll while she was swimming in the Econlockhatchee River in Little Big Econ State Forest, Florida, GB News reported. Brittany Clark was in shoulder-deep water with her boyfriend Chance Allison and an unnamed friend when the attack occurred.
The alligator took Clark and Allison underwater after he grabbed the animal in an attempt to make it release her.
Allison freed one of Clark's arms momentarily, but the alligator latched onto her other arm. He tried to bring both to shore before the alligator released her. CPR began on shore and 911 was called, according to a medical report obtained by the Daily Mail and cited by GB News.
Previously unreleased 911 audio captured a friend reporting that one of Clark's arms was hanging by a thread. Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission trappers captured a 12-foot alligator at the scene and a 13-foot alligator found nearby. Both animals were harvested and samples were sent to a laboratory for identification.
Chad Weber, Public Information Officer for Florida Fish & Wildlife, stated that every body of water in Florida could potentially have an alligator in it.
