Women's Super League Clubs Can Serve Alcohol in Stands From Next Season
WSL Football removed the rule barring alcohol consumption in view of the pitch after two seasons of trials. Shareholders approved the change, which takes effect for the 2026-27 season. Men's professional matches remain subject to existing restrictions.

All Women's Super League clubs can offer alcohol to supporters in the stands from the start of next season, bbc.co.uk reported. WSL Football removed the rule that prevented consumption of alcohol in view of the pitch. The change follows two seasons of trials in the WSL and WSL 2 and received shareholders' approval.
During the 2025-26 season, 20 clubs took part in the trials at 29 venues across 190 fixtures in England's top two tiers. Clubs do not need to supply alcohol if they do not want to and can choose whether to provide it at some venues and not others. Everton and promoted Charlton Athletic confirmed on Monday they would continue to supply alcohol at games.
The Sporting Events Control of Alcohol Act prevents drinking alcohol when facing the pitch at men's football matches at professional level in England, Scotland and Wales.
