France will face Morocco in the opening quarterfinal of the 2026 World Cup on Thursday in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The match pits the defending champions against the last remaining African team in the tournament. Morocco reached the semifinals in 2022.
Bracket outlook France coach Didier Deschamps said Wednesday that the quality of opponents increases at this stage. "You're not in the World Cup quarterfinals just like that," he said. "The quality inevitably increases. " France and Argentina are positioned to meet in the final if both advance through their respective halves of the bracket.
