Baron Corbin returned to WWE during the July 10 episode of SmackDown. He appeared on the apron during a non-title match between United States Champion Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Corbin threw Hayes off the ropes, resulting in a disqualification. He then delivered his finisher to both wrestlers.
Corbin picked up the United States Championship belt and stood over the two competitors. The segment placed him in the title picture without a spoken promo. His return had been rumored for weeks. WWE completed the arrangement after his time in MLW, where he held tag titles under the name Bishop Dyer.
The United States Championship division already included Trick Williams as champion, Carmelo Hayes as challenger, and Ricky Saints shown backstage. Corbin's arrival adds an established heel to the group. A triple threat match involving the three wrestlers has been discussed for SummerSlam.
Saturday Night's Main Event on July 18 in New York is another possible stage for the storyline. WWE filed a trademark for "The Nomad," indicating a possible name change for the returning wrestler.
