thehindu.comWriter Eyal Megged, a former friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told radio host Benny Ziffer on 103FM on Tuesday morning that he would prefer his cat in power and would welcome a military coup against the prime minister. Megged said the country cannot continue with what he called madness and questioned how long the current situation should last.
He linked his comments to Netanyahu's Monday night hospital visit and expressed greater concern for wounded soldiers at Rambam Hospital than for the prime minister's health.
Lebanon operations Megged said the campaign in Lebanon has deteriorated and described a pointless war in which Hezbollah is striking Israeli soldiers after earlier setbacks. He stated the army is not stopping the prime minister and said one family controls the country.
Megged added that Netanyahu is determined to leave the stage of history in blood, fire, and pillars of smoke, and that upcoming elections will not remove him from power. Megged replied by asking whether the country should allow the prime minister to continue until final destruction occurs, citing bereaved families and military cemeteries.
