Xreal Introduces $299 XBX A01 Display Glasses for Phones and Laptops
Xreal announced a new sub-brand and entry-level model of display glasses priced at $299. The A01 model connects to phones, laptops, and handhelds to project video directly into the wearer’s eyes.
WiredXreal announced a new sub-brand called X By Xreal and its first product, the A01 display glasses, priced at $299. The glasses connect to a phone, laptop, or gaming handheld and project video directly into the wearer’s eyes. The A01 weighs 62 grams and features displays rated at 1600 nits perceived brightness with HDR10 support and an anti-shake mode.
The frames are interchangeable, and the glasses draw power from the connected device rather than carrying their own battery.
Xreal stated the glasses are intended for stationary use such as watching shows in bed or extended gaming sessions. The company said the A01 will be available in China immediately and will launch in the United States in July. The A01 supports Xreal’s Beam Pro accessory, which adds three-degrees-of-freedom tracking and access to Google Play Store apps.
The glasses can also be used outdoors due to high brightness and chromatic dimming features. Xreal separately announced Project Aura, a lighter mixed-reality headset developed with Google and Qualcomm, one week before the XBX launch.
