Yamada Holdings and Edion consider business integration
Two major Japanese home appliance retailers are evaluating a merger to improve procurement strength and private-brand sales. Combined sales reached about ¥2.5 trillion in fiscal 2025.

Market context Yamada reported fiscal 2025 consolidated sales of ¥1.69 trillion, while Edion recorded ¥793.7 billion. Together the firms generated about ¥2.5 trillion, exceeding second-ranked Nojima's ¥980 billion and third-ranked Bic Camera's ¥970 billion.
Growth in Japan's home appliance market has slowed amid population decline. Competition has increased from entrants such as furniture retailer Nitori Holdings.
Planned next steps The companies stated they will decide on integration at separate board meetings scheduled for Friday. Yamada operates 8,774 outlets including franchise locations, mainly in Japan. Edion operates 1,180 outlets. Yamada is based in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture. Edion is headquartered in Osaka and was formed in 2002 by the merger of regional chains DeoDeo and Eiden.
