Yan Liu shoots 66 to lead Meijer LPGA Classic by one shot
Yan Liu of China posted a 6-under 66 in windy conditions to hold a one-shot lead after the first round at Blythefield Country Club. American Jessica Porvasnik and Cassie Porter of Australia are tied for second. Liu, who remains winless on the LPGA Tour, closed with a birdie on the 18th hole.

Yan Liu of China shot a 6-under 66 in chilly and windy conditions Thursday morning to take the first-round lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic. Liu closed with a birdie on the par-5 18th at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan. The 28-year-old player is winless on the LPGA Tour.

Jennifer Kupcho carded a 68. Youmin Hwang, Minji Kang, Nastasia Nadaud, Benedetta Moresco and Daniela Darquea also shot 68. Kupcho noted a rough start due to wind and a stomach ache. Defending champion Carlota Ciganda opened with a 72.
Two-time winner Brooke Henderson had a 73. Second-ranked Jeeno Thitikul shot 74.
