Yankees left fielder Jasson Dominguez crashed into the wall while making a leaping catch on the eighth pitch to the first batter of Thursday afternoon's game and was later carted off the field. He ranged back without slowing, secured the ball in his glove, and then fell to the dirt with his hat and sunglasses coming off.

Dominguez remained down for several minutes as concern grew among those present. Several Yankees grouped together on the warning track near the manager and trainers while players and coaches from both dugouts stood on the top step watching the scene.

Dominguez eventually got to his feet but appeared emotional as he was carted off after robbing the opposing batter in the first inning. There was no immediate update from the Yankees on his condition.

Dominguez exited the game after facing just one batter.

In the aftermath a player entered at third base which pushed another from third to right field and shifted a third player from right to left field. The play occurred during the matinee finale in The Bronx on May 7, 2026. Dominguez had made what appeared to be one of the more difficult catches of the season before the injury.
