The New York Yankees trailed the Athletics 3-0 after the first inning on Sunday but scored 13 runs in the third inning to win 13-8. Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge walked through the dugout before the third inning and said, "Let’s f-ing go, boys!" according to NJ Advance Media reporter Randy Miller.
The Yankees collected 11 hits, four walks and four stolen bases during the 18-plate-appearance inning that saw 75 pitches thrown. Shortstop Anthony Volpe led off with a single and later drove in a run. Volpe said after the game that he "definitely" heard Judge's words.
"I just felt like we were a little asleep there the first two innings," Judge said. "I expect more out of the guys. I know they expect more of themselves, so, yeah, a couple choice words there. " The victory improved the Yankees to 36-23. They are off Monday before hosting the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday.
