Yankees second baseman exits game with toe discomfort

New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins in the fifth inning with right big toe discomfort. The Yankees said X-rays on the toe were negative. He will be reevaluated Monday when the team begins a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road.

Chisholm was removed after flying out to right field. He jogged to first base and limped to the dugout, where he spoke briefly with manager Aaron Boone before exiting. The Yankees, trailing 4-0 at the time, inserted Amed Rosario at third base and shifted Jose Caballero from third to second.

Chisholm finished 1-for-3, recording the team's first hit of the day before being caught off first base. Minnesota right-hander Joe Ryan allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and one walk.
